A compressor is the pump at the heart of any refrigeration or freezing system. It draws low-pressure refrigerant vapour from the evaporator, squeezes it to raise its pressure and temperature, then pushes the hot gas into the condenser where it sheds heat and turns back to liquid. This cycle moves heat from inside the cabinet to the outside air, keeping stored food at the set temperature.

The HXK55AA unit is a hermetically sealed compressor designed for continuous duty in commercial refrigeration. It uses R600a, a hydrocarbon refrigerant that is both energy-efficient and environmentally benign, with zero ozone-depletion potential and very low global-warming impact. Because the refrigerant charge is small, the compressor is compact and lightweight, yet it delivers the steady cooling performance expected in professional kitchens and retail display cabinets.

Installation follows the standard sequence for sealed compressors. The unit is bolted to the base of the refrigeration system, refrigerant lines are brazed to the suction and discharge ports, and the electrical supply is connected to the terminal block. Once the system is evacuated and recharged with the correct mass of R600a, the compressor starts automatically when the thermostat calls for cooling and stops when the set temperature is reached.

The casing is pressed steel, painted for corrosion resistance, and the motor windings are sealed inside to prevent contamination. There are no user-serviceable parts; maintenance is limited to keeping the condenser coil clean and ensuring the surrounding air can circulate freely.
