A melamine table top creates a hard, non-porous work surface that resists moisture, stains and scratches without absorbing food odours or bacteria. The melamine layer is bonded to a dense particle-board core under heat and pressure, forming a single rigid panel that does not warp or delaminate under the weight of catering equipment and repeated cleaning cycles.
The 28 mm thickness provides the stiffness needed to span standard kitchen cupboard carcasses without sagging, while the 1200 x 800 mm footprint matches the European pallet module, allowing the top to be used as a single workstation or combined with others to form continuous runs across larger areas.
To fit the top, the operator measures the cupboard carcass, positions the panel and secures it with screws driven through the pre-drilled edge zones. The 2 mm ABS edging is factory-applied and heat-fused to the melamine face, sealing the raw particle-board core against moisture ingress and preventing chipping at the edges.
The surface requires only a damp cloth and mild detergent for daily cleaning; abrasive pads or solvents are not needed and can damage the melamine finish. For deeper cleaning, a sanitising solution may be used, provided it is rinsed off promptly to avoid residue build-up.
The 1200 x 800 x 28 mm dimensions specify the exact space the top occupies on the worktop or cupboard, while the 28 mm thickness determines the load it can support without deflection and the depth of the edge profile that must be accommodated when fitting adjacent units or splashbacks.
