A Japanese gas plate delivers intense, even heat across a solid cooking surface, designed for rapid searing, grilling and teppanyaki-style preparation. Gas burners beneath the plate heat the metal directly, transferring energy without the lag of an electric element. The chromium-plated steel surface spreads the heat laterally, eliminating hot spots and allowing precise temperature control across the entire plate. Low radiant heat keeps the kitchen cooler and reduces energy waste, while the high thermal conductivity of the metal ensures quick response when the heat is adjusted.
The operator lights the pilot, then sets the thermostat for each burner to the required temperature. The three-flame tubes distribute the gas evenly, producing a broad, stable flame that heats the plate uniformly. Food is placed directly on the chromium surface, where the even heat sears or cooks it without scorching. A perimeter groove catches any juices or residues, directing them to a single drain hole and into a removable tray for easy disposal. Adjustable legs allow the plate to be levelled on uneven floors, and the heat-resistant knobs remain cool enough to touch during operation.
The entire unit is constructed from AISI 304 18/10 stainless steel, including the 15 mm thick chromium-plated cooking plate. The chromium finish resists sticking and staining, and its smooth surface can be wiped clean with minimal effort. The burners are controlled by thermostat-operated taps, each with a thermocouple for safety and piezoelectric ignition for instant lighting. A pilot light confirms the burner is active, and the adjustable legs are made from the same corrosion-resistant stainless steel as the body.
Each burner delivers 5.8 kW, giving a combined output of 23.2 kW across the four-burner configuration. The footprint of 1600 mm by 700–760 mm fits standard worktop depths and allows side-by-side installation in larger kitchens. The 850 mm height places the cooking surface at a comfortable working level, while the weight ensures stability without anchoring.
Cleaning involves wiping the chromium plate with a damp cloth or scraper to remove food residues, then emptying the collection tray beneath the drain hole. The stainless steel body can be washed with mild detergent, avoiding abrasives that could damage the chromium finish. The burners and taps require occasional inspection to ensure the flame tubes and thermocouples are free from grease or debris.
The TEP4/160G is the chromium-plated version of the Japanese gas plate range, offering the same dimensions and power as other models in the series. It is categorised under professional gas cooking equipment, specifically designed for high-output teppanyaki and griddle applications.
