For mixing large quantities of soups and other liquid and semi-liquid dishes in pots, coppers and ovens
A wooden stirrer cuts through thick sauces, soups and batters without scratching pans or altering flavours. Unlike metal spoons, the wood does not conduct heat, so it stays cool to the touch even when left in a hot pot. The broad, flat blade spreads the stirring force evenly, preventing lumps and keeping mixtures smooth without aerating them unnecessarily.
The operator loads the stirrer by gripping the handle and lowers the blade into the liquid. A steady, circular motion keeps the contents moving; the length of the handle keeps the hand clear of steam and splashes. Once the mixture is uniform, the stirrer is lifted out and set aside or rested across the rim of the pot for later use.
This HENDI stirrer is carved from a single piece of raw beech wood, eliminating the risk of layers separating that can occur with glued or laminated products. Beech is exceptionally hard and dense, resisting splintering and wear even after repeated use in professional kitchens. The surface remains smooth, so it does not trap food particles or absorb odours.
The 700 mm length provides reach across large stock pots and bratt pans, while the 95 mm blade width covers enough surface area to move thick mixtures efficiently. The size also makes it easy to store: it fits into standard utensil drawers or hangs on hooks above the worktop.
Cleaning follows from the single-piece construction. After use, the stirrer is rinsed under hot water to remove food residue, then left to air-dry. Because the wood is untreated, it should not be soaked or placed in a dishwasher, as prolonged moisture can cause warping or cracking. Regular oiling with food-safe mineral oil maintains the wood's natural resistance to moisture and extends its service life.
The stirrer is listed in the HENDI catalogue under kitchen utensils and accessories for professional catering equipment.
