GOLD — energy efficient tumble dryers 11–80 kg
The dryer is a laundry's most expensive machine — not by purchase price, but by what it consumes over a year. GOLD is Danube's answer to that: the class where every saving technology comes as standard rather than on an options list.
Danube states that the DD-GOLD ET2 is the most efficient of all its dryer ranges, because it comes as standard with all the functions and features that combine performance and savings. Thanks to these, compared with other dryers these models can save up to 60% energy and significantly reduce cycle times without compromising drying quality.
A shorter cycle also means more cycles per day from the same number of machines. That is why GOLD is usually bought not by those with a larger budget, but by those who have worked out the payback.
What comes as standard in the GOLD class
- Air Recycle — an air recovery system that returns heat which would otherwise be lost outside back into the cycle.
- Care Dry — precise control of residual moisture. The cycle stops automatically once the specified moisture percentage is reached, so nothing runs dry for nothing.
- Insulated panels and double door glass — the entire airflow circuit is thermally insulated to reduce the energy needed for heating.
- Optimal Flow — dual axial and radial airflow, complemented by side and front air inlets for maximum drying conditions.
- Sprinkler — integrated fire extinguishing system.
- Easy Touch 2 with a 7" touchscreen, fully programmable.
- Danube Online IoT connectivity as standard and free.
- Stainless steel drum and reversing drum as standard.
- Soft Dry — a drum with stamped holes that protects the fabric.
- Cool Down — cooling at the end of the cycle to prevent creasing.
- Wide 180° door opening, a large lint filter drawer and a USB connection.
- Electric, gas or steam heating.
Where the saving comes from
Three things work together, and that is exactly why the result is greater than each of them alone:
- Heat is not blown outside — Air Recycle returns it.
- Heat is not lost through the cabinet — insulated panels and double glass keep it inside.
- Nothing dries longer than it needs to — Care Dry stops the cycle at the right moment.

When GOLD is the right choice
- Laundries where the dryer runs several shifts a day.
- Hotels and resorts with continuous bed linen turnover.
- Hospitals and care homes with a steady high volume.
- Sites where the price of electricity is a significant cost item.
- When throughput must increase but there is no room for another machine — a shorter cycle means more cycles per day.
- When the business has sustainability targets or has to report on energy consumption.
Models
DD-11, 14, 18, 22, 28, 35, 45, 60, 80 GOLD ET2 — single pocket industrial dryers.
DD-11, 14, 18, 22 HPi GOLD ET2 — heat pump dryers for rooms with no external exhaust.
GOLD versions are also available for self-service laundries.
Available options
Automatic or manual sliding door on the 45 to 80 kg models, front tilting on the 45 to 80 kg models, opposite door opening, tropicalised version (ET2), perfume dosing, back panel with air filter, lint filter with a 0.6 or 1.2 mm grid (0.3 mm is standard), stainless steel cabinet or front panel, low pressure steam battery, stainless steel steam battery on the 11 to 35 kg models, reduced power of 12 kW instead of 18 kW on the electric 14 and 18 kg models, natural gas version (LPG as standard).
Frequently asked questions
Is the 60% saving realistic?
It is the figure Danube states compared with other dryers, delivered by air recovery, thermal insulation and moisture control working together. The real result on your site depends on the load, the age of the machine being replaced and the price of energy. The more cycles per day, the closer you get to the maximum.
How long does GOLD take to pay back?
It can be calculated: the price difference against the saving per cycle, multiplied by the number of cycles per year. If the dryer runs two shifts, payback is usually within a couple of years. If it runs a couple of cycles a day, SILVER or BRONZE is the better buy.
How does Optimal Flow differ from Double Flow?
Double Flow, used on the other classes, combines axial and radial airflow. Optimal Flow adds side and front air inlets, which creates better drying conditions and shortens the cycle.
Does a shorter cycle mean more aggressive drying?
No. The cycle shortens because the airflow is more efficient and heat is not lost, not because the temperature is higher. The Soft Dry drum and the Care Dry sensor specifically protect fabric from over-drying.
Is GOLD available without an external exhaust?
Yes — in the HPi GOLD heat pump version from 11 to 22 kg. The single pocket DD GOLD models do require an exhaust.
Is the Sprinkler mandatory?
Whether it is required depends on your site's fire regulations, but in the GOLD class it is included as standard, so there is nothing separate to arrange. A dryer with accumulated lint is a genuine fire source.
Is GOLD worth buying if volumes are small?
Honestly — not always. If the machine runs a few cycles a day, the saving will not cover the price difference. Tell us your daily volume and we will do the maths.
