A milk system in an automatic espresso machine draws cold milk from a jug, warms it, froths it and dispenses it into the cup. Over time, milk proteins and fats coat the inside of the lines, the steam wand and the frothing chamber. These residues harden, trap bacteria and alter the taste of every drink. The cleaning tablet dissolves in warm water to release an alkaline detergent that breaks down the proteins and fats. An oxidising agent then sanitises the surfaces, leaving the system free of odour and ready for the next service.

To clean the milk circuit, the operator fills a jug with warm water, drops in one tablet and places the jug under the steam wand. The machine is switched to a cleaning programme that draws the solution through the milk lines, frother and any valves. The solution circulates for a set period, dissolving residues and killing bacteria. After the cycle, the operator rinses the system with fresh water to remove any detergent traces, ensuring the next milk drink tastes clean.

The tablets are supplied in a sealed pack of 45, each weighing 16 g. The alkaline detergent and oxidising agent are formulated to be non-corrosive to stainless steel, silicone and food-grade plastics. The small 16 g dose is economical for daily use, reducing the volume of cleaning solution needed and the time spent on maintenance.

Each tablet is pre-dosed, eliminating measuring errors and ensuring consistent cleaning strength. The pack of 45 tablets provides enough for daily cleaning over several weeks, depending on the number of cycles run each day.

The tablets are designed for milk systems in automatic espresso machines and are compatible with BHS and other professional coffee equipment that uses a similar cleaning cycle.
