A manual slicer and grater that sits on the worktop and converts whole vegetables, cheeses and cured meats into uniform slices or shreds without electricity. The operator turns a hand crank; the crank drives a circular blade or grating drum inside the housing. As the food is pushed through the feed tube, the blade or drum cuts it against a fixed pressure plate, producing consistent thickness or shred size every time.
To use the Borner 5052, the operator selects the blade or drum, locks it into the spindle, and secures the unit to the worktop with the non-slip feet. Food is loaded into the vertical feed tube and pressed gently against the pressure plate. Turning the crank rotates the blade or drum, slicing or grating the food as it passes. The cut pieces fall into a waiting container beneath the outlet chute. The process continues until the feed tube is empty, with no need to stop and clear jams.
The unit is built from stainless steel, with a plastic feed tube and crank handle. The small footprint—340 mm wide by 120 mm deep—allows it to be stored in a drawer or cupboard when not in use. The weight of 0.405 kg makes it easy to lift and position on any work surface.
Cleaning follows the parts named: the blade or drum is removed, washed in hot soapy water, and dried before reassembly. The stainless steel housing and plastic feed tube are wiped down with a damp cloth and sanitised after each service.
