Built-in Waste Cover for Coffee Grounds

A built-in waste cover collects spent coffee grounds directly beneath the grinder or espresso machine, keeping the worktop clear and the waste contained until emptying.

The cover forms a shallow tray that slides into a cut-out in the worktop or cupboard. Gravity guides the grounds from the machine's chute into the tray; no moving parts or power are needed. Because the tray is open at the top, grounds fall straight in without clogging, and the operator can see when it needs emptying.

To use the cover, position it under the grinder or espresso machine so the chute aligns with the tray. After each grind or shot, the grounds drop into the tray. When the tray is full, lift it out, tip the contents into a bin or compost, and slide it back into place.

The unit is sized to fit standard under-counter cut-outs: 347 mm deep, 405 mm wide and 130 mm high. Its low profile allows it to sit flush beneath most espresso machines without interfering with the drip tray or water supply.

Cleaning is limited to rinsing the tray under a tap or wiping it with a damp cloth. No detergents or scrubbing are required, as the grounds do not stick to the smooth surface.
