Chair Bubble with Plastic Legs for Catering Workstations

A seating unit designed for catering workstations, the Chair Bubble combines a contoured seat with adjustable height to suit different counter and worktop levels. The chair allows staff to alternate between seated and standing tasks without leaving the work area, reducing fatigue during long service periods.

The seat height adjusts through a gas-lift mechanism housed inside the central column. When the lever is pressed, the column extends or retracts, letting the operator set the seat at the required level for the task—whether peeling vegetables at a low prep table or portioning at a standard worktop. The mechanism locks automatically once the lever is released, holding the chosen height until the next adjustment.

To use the chair, the operator sits, presses the lever beneath the seat, raises or lowers the chair to the desired height, then releases the lever to lock it in place. The chair remains stable during use, with the plastic legs distributing weight evenly across the floor surface. When not in use, the chairs stack vertically to save space in storage cupboards or against kitchen walls.

The seat shell is formed from a single piece of moulded plastic, providing a smooth, seamless surface that resists food spills and cleaning chemicals. The legs are injection-moulded plastic, chosen for their light weight and resistance to corrosion in humid kitchen environments. The gas-lift column is encased in a protective sleeve, shielding it from splashes and knocks.

The adjustment lever is positioned beneath the front edge of the seat, within easy reach of the seated operator. A single lever controls both height adjustment and locking, simplifying operation during busy service periods.

At 3090 grams, the chair is light enough to be moved between workstations by a single person, yet stable enough to support an adult during extended use. The footprint of 540 by 500 millimetres allows the chair to fit beneath standard catering worktops and counters, maximising floor space in compact kitchens.

Cleaning involves wiping the seat and legs with a damp cloth and mild detergent. The seamless plastic surfaces prevent dirt from accumulating in crevices, while the gas-lift column's protective sleeve can be wiped down without exposing the mechanism to moisture. The chair requires no lubrication or disassembly for routine cleaning.
