A melamine table top forms a hard, non-porous work surface that resists scratches, stains and heat from hot pans. The melamine sheet is bonded to a dense particle-board core under high pressure, creating a rigid panel that does not warp or sag under the weight of catering equipment. The material is impervious to water, oils and most cleaning chemicals, so it stays hygienic through repeated use in busy kitchens.
The 1200 x 600 mm top drops onto standard 600 mm catering cupboards and trolleys, extending the work surface without overhang. A 38 mm thickness gives enough depth for secure fixing and prevents flex when heavy mixers or bain-maries are placed on it. The two-millimetre ABS edging wraps the cut edges, sealing the particle board from moisture and giving a smooth, rounded finish that protects staff and equipment.
To fit, the top is lowered onto the supporting frame or cupboard and secured with screws through the pre-drilled fixing points. Once fixed, it provides a level, stable platform for food preparation, plating or holding hot trays. The melamine surface can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and sanitiser, while the ABS edging is wiped along its length to remove any trapped debris.
Construction is a single 1200 x 600 x 38 mm melamine-faced panel with matching ABS edging on all four sides. No controls or moving parts are present.
The 1200 mm length spans two standard 600 mm catering units, creating a continuous work surface. The 600 mm width matches the depth of most professional cupboards and trolleys, so the top sits flush without projecting into walkways. The 38 mm thickness ensures the panel remains rigid under load and provides enough material for screws to grip securely.
Cleaning involves wiping the melamine face with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then drying to prevent water marks. The ABS edging is cleaned with the same cloth, paying attention to the joint where the edging meets the melamine to remove any trapped food particles. No special maintenance is required beyond regular wiping and prompt removal of spills to preserve the hygienic finish.
