Melamine Table Top 1200 x 800 mm

A melamine table top provides a hard-wearing, moisture-resistant surface for professional catering worktops, food preparation stations and service counters. The material combines a dense particleboard core with a melamine resin overlay that resists scratches, stains and heat from hot pans or utensils. This construction keeps the work surface hygienic and easy to clean, while the 18 mm thickness gives the top the rigidity needed to support heavy equipment such as slicers, mixers or bain-maries without sagging or flexing.

The top is cut to a standard 1200 x 800 mm footprint, matching the dimensions of Euro containers and gastronorm trays. This size allows the unit to sit flush on a base cabinet or mobile stand, creating a continuous work surface that can be extended by butting multiple tops together. A 2 mm ABS edging is bonded to all four sides, sealing the particleboard core against moisture and preventing the laminate from delaminating at the edges. The edging also gives a smooth, rounded finish that reduces the risk of chipping or snagging clothing.

To install, the top is placed on a level base and secured with screws through the pre-drilled fixing points. Once in position, it forms a stable platform for food preparation, plating or service. The melamine surface can be wiped down with a damp cloth and sanitiser between tasks, and the ABS edging prevents water from seeping into the core during cleaning. Over time, the top may need occasional tightening of the fixing screws if the base shifts, but the melamine and edging require no additional treatment or sealing.

The 1200 x 800 mm size is a common footprint in professional kitchens, fitting standard shelving units, trolleys and under-counter refrigeration. The 38 mm overall height includes the edging and provides clearance for most catering equipment legs or adjustable feet. The top is supplied as a single piece, with no assembly required beyond securing it to the base.
