A melamine table top forms a hard, non-porous work surface that resists stains, scratches and moisture without absorbing food odours or bacteria. The core is a dense particle board; a melamine resin sheet is bonded to both faces under heat and pressure, creating a seamless, hygienic layer that needs no sealing or waxing. The edges are capped with a matching ABS strip to protect the core from chipping and to give a finished look that blends with the top colour.
To fit the top, the operator measures the base unit, positions the 680 mm square panel so it overhangs evenly on all sides, and secures it with screws driven up through the cupboard frame into the underside. Once level, the top provides a stable platform for food preparation, plating or serving directly from the counter.
The 28 mm thickness gives a rigid surface that does not sag under the weight of commercial equipment such as slicers or bain-maries. The 680 mm width and depth create a compact footprint that fits standard catering base units while leaving enough overhang for safe handling of hot pans and trays.
Cleaning is limited to wiping the melamine face with a damp cloth and mild detergent; the non-porous surface prevents liquids from penetrating and allows quick drying. The ABS edging can be cleaned in the same way, but abrasive pads are avoided to prevent scratching the finish.
The catalogue places this article in the worktop and counter section, under melamine tops for professional catering environments.
