A grease separator captures fats, oils and grease from kitchen wastewater before they enter the drainage system. Wastewater flows into the unit, where it slows and cools. Fats and oils, being lighter than water, rise to the surface and form a floating layer, while heavier solids settle as sludge. Two vertical partitions inside the chamber guide the flow, ensuring the separated grease remains trapped while clarified water exits through the outlet. This process prevents blockages in pipes and reduces maintenance on downstream plumbing.
To operate, connect the inlet and outlet pipes to the Ø50 mm openings. Wastewater enters the chamber, where the internal partitions slow its movement. The fats separate and collect at the top, while sludge settles at the bottom. When the chamber requires emptying, open the four latching switches on the padded cover and lift it clear. Use the ball valve to drain accumulated grease from the chamber, then close the valve and replace the cover, securing it with the switches.
The separator is constructed from stainless steel, chosen for its resistance to corrosion and ease of cleaning in a kitchen environment. The cover is padded to reduce noise and sealed with four switches-latches for a secure fit. Two internal partitions divide the chamber into zones for fat and sludge, improving separation efficiency.
The 300 L/h flow rate indicates the volume of wastewater the unit can process continuously, suitable for medium-volume kitchen operations. The 650x346x308 mm footprint determines the floor or under-counter space required for installation. At 11.61 kg, the unit is light enough for one person to move into position without mechanical assistance.
Cleaning involves removing the cover, scooping out separated grease and sludge, and wiping down the stainless steel surfaces. The ball valve allows for quick drainage of residual grease without disassembling the unit. Regular maintenance ensures consistent performance and prevents odours from developing inside the chamber.
The BHS N975718 grease separator is designed for indoor use in professional kitchens, where it integrates with existing drainage systems to protect plumbing infrastructure.
