A rubber apron forms a continuous barrier between the operator and liquids, oils, sauces or cleaning agents that splash during food preparation, butchery or pot-washing. The material is impermeable, so spills bead and run off instead of soaking through to clothing underneath. This protection is essential where staff stand at hobs, sinks or worktops for long shifts, because it keeps uniforms dry and reduces the risk of scalds or chemical irritation.
The apron wraps around the front of the body from chest to mid-calf, securing with ties at the waist and neck. Its generous cut allows free movement of arms and legs while covering the torso completely. Because rubber is flexible and lightweight, the apron moves with the wearer without restricting bending, reaching or lifting.
To use, slip the neck loop over the head, bring the apron down to cover the front of the body, then cross the waist ties behind the back and bring them forward to tie securely. Adjust the neck loop so the top edge sits just below the collarbone, keeping the chest fully protected. When the shift ends, untie the waist and lift the apron over the head, taking care not to drag it through any spills on the floor.
The apron is made from a single sheet of rubber, cut to 90 cm wide and 115 cm long. This size ensures full coverage for most adults while leaving enough length to tuck under a worktop or sink edge if needed. Rubber is naturally water-resistant and easy to wipe clean, so stains and residues can be removed with a damp cloth or mild detergent between shifts. Over time, the material may develop a slight odour; airing it after each use helps prevent this.
The catalogue places this apron in the protective clothing section, alongside gloves, sleeves and footwear designed for wet or greasy environments.
