A laboratory scale measures mass by comparing the force of gravity on an object to a known standard. The SKB6000 uses an internal load cell that bends under weight; this deformation is converted into an electrical signal, which the scale's processor translates into a digital reading on the LCD display. The method delivers consistent accuracy across the entire weighing range, making it suitable for tasks where small variations in mass affect results.
To use the scale, place it on a level, stable surface away from draughts or vibrations. Connect the power supply—either the built-in battery or the mains adapter—and switch the unit on. The display will initialise and show zero. Place a container on the weighing platform if needed, then press the tare button to reset the reading to zero, excluding the container's weight. Add the sample gradually until the desired mass appears on the screen. The scale updates continuously, allowing precise adjustment. Once the reading stabilises, record the value. For repeated measurements, the tare function can be used each time to exclude the weight of new containers.
The SKB6000 is constructed with a weighing platform sized to accommodate standard laboratory vessels. The housing is compact, with overall dimensions of 250 mm in length, 200 mm in width, and 90 mm in height, allowing it to fit on crowded worktops. The display is an LCD panel, which remains clear under normal lighting conditions. Power is supplied either by battery or mains connection, providing flexibility in locations without reliable outlets.
The scale offers a maximum capacity of 6000 g, with a readability of 0.1 g, enabling measurements of both small and moderately large samples. The tare function allows up to 5999.9 g to be excluded, which is useful when weighing ingredients directly into containers. The unit operates within a specified temperature range, ensuring stable performance in typical laboratory environments.
Cleaning is straightforward: wipe the weighing platform and housing with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive moisture, which could damage the load cell or electronics. The scale should be stored in a dry environment when not in use to protect the internal components.
The SKB6000 is categorised as a laboratory scale, designed for applications requiring precise mass measurement in research, quality control, or formulation settings.
