A counting scale measures small identical items by weight rather than by hand. The operator places a sample quantity on the platform, tells the scale how many pieces the sample contains, and the scale then calculates the number of pieces in any larger batch from its total weight. This method eliminates counting errors, speeds up stock-taking and portioning, and works equally well for dry goods, frozen items or pre-packaged components.
The SLC6 is loaded by placing the container or tray on the stainless-steel pan. The operator presses the tare button to zero the display, adds the sample quantity, enters the number of pieces via the keypad, and the scale stores the piece weight. Any subsequent batch placed on the pan is instantly shown as a piece count alongside the total weight. The dual display keeps both readings visible, so the operator can check portions, verify deliveries or reconcile stock without switching modes.
Construction is a stainless-steel weighing pan mounted on a plastic base that houses the load cell and electronics. The LCD display is back-lit for easy reading under kitchen lighting, and the unit can run on either mains power or an internal battery, allowing it to be moved between prep areas, stores and delivery points without losing calibration.
Controls consist of a numeric keypad for entering piece counts and a tare button to reset the display to zero. The scale automatically switches between weight and count modes, so the operator only needs to set the sample once per session.
A maximum capacity of 6 kg allows the scale to handle bulk ingredients such as spices, frozen vegetables or pre-portioned meats, while a readability of 1/2 g ensures that even small items are counted accurately. The 4.2 kg weight of the unit makes it easy to carry between workstations, and the compact footprint of 304 x 324 mm fits on most worktops or shelves. The working temperature range permits use in chilled prep areas as well as ambient kitchens.
Cleaning is limited to wiping the stainless-steel pan with a damp cloth and mild detergent; the plastic base should be kept dry to protect the electronics. The scale is supplied as a single model with no variants.
The SLC6 is categorised under precision scales in the professional catering equipment catalogue.
