A weighing scale measures mass by balancing the force of gravity against a calibrated spring or load cell. In professional kitchens, this precision allows chefs to portion ingredients consistently, follow recipes exactly, and control food costs without guesswork. The SLRP15 from BHS uses an internal load cell that converts mechanical force into an electrical signal, which the scale then displays as a digital reading. This method eliminates the need for manual balance weights and delivers results quickly, even when weighing small quantities or adjusting for container weight.

To use the scale, place it on a level worktop away from draughts and heat sources. Connect the power supply—either a built-in battery or the included mains adaptor—then press the power button to turn the unit on. The LCD display will show zero. Place the container or ingredient directly on the weighing platform and read the measurement. If the container has its own weight, press the tare button to reset the display to zero, then add the ingredient until the desired weight appears. The scale will hold the reading until the next measurement or until it is switched off.

The SLRP15 is built with a stainless-steel weighing platform and a plastic housing that resists moisture and cleaning chemicals. Its compact footprint—304 mm wide, 324 mm deep, and 112 mm high—fits easily on a worktop or shelf, while the alternative base size of 295 mm by 225 mm allows it to sit on narrower surfaces when space is limited. The LCD display is backlit for clear visibility under kitchen lighting, and the buttons are positioned for one-handed operation.

The scale operates on either battery power or mains electricity, making it suitable for kitchens where power outlets are scarce or where mobility is needed. Its maximum capacity of 15 kg covers everything from spices to bulk ingredients, while the 2/5 g readability ensures accuracy for both small and large quantities. The working temperature range of -0.25 °C to the upper limit specified allows the scale to function in chilled prep areas as well as ambient kitchens. The unit weighs 4.6 kg, light enough to move between stations but stable enough to stay in place during use.

Cleaning is straightforward: wipe the stainless-steel platform and plastic housing with a damp cloth and mild detergent after each shift. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive water, which could damage the load cell or electronics. The scale does not require calibration between uses, but regular checks against a known weight will maintain accuracy over time.
