Floor scales measure large quantities of ingredients, packaging or finished dishes without lifting them off the ground. A rigid platform rests on load cells that convert weight into an electrical signal. The signal is processed and shown on a digital display, giving a reading that is both precise and stable even when the load shifts slightly during weighing.
To use the SPBS150, place the scales on a level, hard surface. Connect the power supply if using mains, or insert the battery if running on portable power. Switch the unit on and wait for the display to show zero. Position the container or tray on the platform and press the tare button to subtract its weight. Add the ingredient until the display reaches the required quantity, then remove the load and switch off the scales.
The platform is sized to accept standard gastronorm trays and stock pots directly. An LCD screen 52 mm high gives clear readings from a distance. The unit can weigh up to 150 kg with a resolution of 50 g, allowing accurate portioning of bulk ingredients such as flour, rice or prepared sauces. A tare function resets the display to zero with the container in place, so only the net weight is shown.
Construction is a steel frame with a non-slip platform surface. The scales weigh 14.5 kg, making them easy to move with a trolley but stable enough to stay in position during use. Power comes from either a battery or mains supply, so the unit can be used in areas without a nearby socket or where trailing cables are a hazard.
The working temperature range allows operation in chilled preparation rooms as well as ambient kitchens. The 0.007 kW power rating means the scales draw minimal current, reducing running costs and the load on the electrical circuit.
Cleaning involves wiping the platform and frame with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid high-pressure hoses or abrasive pads that could damage the load cells or display. Store the scales in a dry area when not in use to protect the electronics from moisture.
The SPBS150 is categorised under weighing equipment in the professional catering catalogue.
