Tea bag clips hold a tea bag firmly against the side of a large urn or pot so the leaves steep evenly without floating free or tearing when the bag is lifted. The clip's spring tension grips the bag's paper tab or string, keeping it clear of the tap and preventing scalds when the urn is drained.

A single clip is fitted to the rim of the vessel. The operator places the tea bag inside, folds the tab over the clip's jaws, and releases the spring. The bag remains submerged while the water circulates, ensuring full extraction of colour and flavour. When steeping is complete, the clip is squeezed to release the bag cleanly, leaving no torn fragments in the urn.
