A table base provides the rigid frame that turns a loose worktop into a stable work surface. Four legs or a pedestal raise the top to a comfortable working height, while cross-bracing stops the unit from twisting when heavy pots or chopping boards are moved across it. The GRATTONI AGT611 is designed to carry a single square worktop up to 800 mm on each side, giving a compact yet generous preparation area without taking more floor space than necessary.
Assembly begins by positioning the base on the kitchen floor. The 400 mm by 400 mm footprint leaves enough room for a standard plinth or kickboard around the edges, while the 730 mm overall height brings the worktop to the standardised height used for sinks, hobs and other counter-mounted equipment. Once the base is levelled, the worktop is lowered onto it and secured with screws or clamps through pre-drilled fixing points. The 15 kg weight of the base keeps the whole assembly stable during use, yet is light enough for two people to move the unit without machinery.
The frame is constructed from mild steel tubing, welded and finished with a durable powder-coated surface that resists the knocks and spills of a busy kitchen. No shelves or drawers are fitted, so the interior space remains open for cleaning or for the installation of under-counter appliances such as waste bins or refrigerated drawers. The base accepts any worktop material—stainless steel, laminate, solid surface or timber—as long as the top does not exceed the 800 mm maximum dimension.
Cleaning is straightforward: wipe the frame with a damp cloth to remove dust and grease, then dry it to prevent corrosion. The powder-coated finish can be touched up with matching paint if the surface is scratched. Regular checks of the levelling feet ensure the worktop stays flat and stable over time.
