A ceramic glass boiling hob heats pots and pans by passing electric current through radiant elements beneath a smooth, sealed surface. The elements glow red, transferring heat directly to the base of the cookware without open flames or exposed coils. This method gives even, controllable heat across the entire plate, allowing rapid boiling, simmering or holding at precise temperatures without hot spots that can scorch food or damage thin-based pans.
The operator places a pot or pan on one of the radiant plates, selects the power level with the seven-position switch, and starts the hob. Warning lights show which plates are active and which retain residual heat after being switched off. A temperature limiter prevents the ceramic glass from exceeding its safe operating range, protecting both the hob and the cookware. The hob remains on until the switch is turned to zero or the limiter cuts power.
The unit is built on a fabricated stainless steel frame in CrNi 18/10 AISI 304 grade with a Scotch-Brite satin polish finish. The 2 mm thick worktop supports heavy pots while chromed details protect edges and corners. Cast iron hot plates beneath the ceramic glass distribute heat evenly, and steel border seals prevent spills from reaching the internal components. Rolling racks lock pots in place during vigorous boiling, reducing the risk of spills and burns.
The 12.8 kW power rating requires a 400 V three-phase supply, which is standard in professional kitchens for high-demand appliances. The 800x800 mm footprint fits a standard worktop space, allowing the hob to be installed alongside other equipment without custom cabinetry. At 48 kg, the unit is heavy enough to remain stable during use but can still be moved by two people for cleaning or reconfiguration.
Cleaning involves wiping the ceramic glass surface with a damp cloth once it has cooled, removing any food debris or spills. The stainless steel frame and worktop can be cleaned with mild detergent and water, avoiding abrasive pads that could damage the satin finish. The chromed details and steel seals should be dried after cleaning to prevent water spots or corrosion. The rolling racks can be removed for thorough cleaning or replacement if damaged.
The PCCD-88ETX is a single model with no variants. It is categorised under professional electric boiling hobs in the LOTUS catalogue.
