Electric cooktop with 2 cast iron hotplates, featuring a stainless steel construction and a locking system.
An electric hob built for the demands of professional kitchens, the LOTUS PCT-94ETX supplies concentrated heat through two cast-iron plates. Each plate is heated by an embedded element that transfers energy directly into the metal, raising its temperature quickly and holding it evenly across the surface. The cast iron then radiates that heat into the base of pans, allowing rapid searing, boiling or simmering without hot spots. Because the heat is stored in the thick metal, the plates respond slowly to changes in setting, giving chefs a steady output that does not fluctuate with minor voltage variations or ambient temperature. This inertia also means the plates stay hot for several minutes after being switched off, so residual heat can finish cooking without additional power consumption or risk of burning food once the pan is removed.
To use the hob, the operator places a pan on one of the two plates and selects the desired power level from seven settings. A rotary control for each plate adjusts the output continuously between low and full power, while an integrated thermal limiter prevents the plate from exceeding a safe temperature. The hob is switched on at the mains isolator, then each plate is turned on individually with its own control knob. Once the pan is in place, the knob is turned to the chosen setting; the plate heats up within minutes and maintains the temperature until the knob is returned to zero. A locking system on the underside of the hob secures the pan in position, preventing accidental movement during stirring or lifting. Adjustable feet level the unit on uneven floors, and a splash guard along the rear edge protects the wall and controls from grease and water.
The hob is constructed from 18/10 stainless steel, a grade chosen for its resistance to corrosion and staining in wet, acidic or salty environments. The worktop is 1 mm thick, finished in a Scotch-Brite satin pattern that reduces visible scratches and fingerprints. Edges are rounded for safety and ease of cleaning, and chrome-plated trim adds rigidity and a professional appearance. The control knobs are sealed to IPX5 standard, allowing them to be rinsed under a low-pressure tap without risk of water ingress. Each cast-iron plate is encased in a stainless steel rim that prevents spills from running off the edge and protects the element from impact.
The 7 kW total power rating indicates a load suitable for a 400 V three-phase circuit, the standard supply for heavy-duty catering equipment. This voltage and phase configuration allow the hob to draw current evenly across three live conductors, reducing the risk of overloading a single phase and tripping the circuit breaker. The 29 kg weight reflects the mass of the cast-iron plates and the stainless steel frame; the unit is designed to be moved with a trolley or by two people, not carried by hand. The 400 mm depth, 900 mm width and 280 mm height define the footprint on the worktop and the space required beneath for ventilation and electrical connection.
Cleaning is limited to the parts named in the construction. The stainless steel worktop and splash guard can be wiped with a damp cloth and mild detergent; abrasive pads should be avoided to preserve the satin finish. The cast-iron plates are cleaned with a scraper while still warm, then wiped with a cloth to remove residue. The control knobs are rinsed under a tap, but the hob must be switched off and disconnected from the mains before any cleaning is attempted. The adjustable feet are checked periodically to ensure the hob remains level and stable.
The PCT-94ETX is a two-plate model; the same series includes variants with different numbers of plates and power ratings. The catalogue places it in the professional hobs section, under electric cast-iron models.
