Flatwork ironers 200–650 mm
Ironing is the stage where a laundry either saves money or loses it. Bed linen ironed by hand costs staff time, and staff are the most expensive resource you have. A flatwork ironer does the same job several times faster, and to a standard an iron cannot reach.
The Danube ironer range starts with wall-mounted models for small flat linen and ends with the ø650 mm GIGA series for industrial laundries. Danube states that the ironers are available in several working widths and with two types of heating, so they adapt to sites of very different sizes.
What the roller diameter means
Diameter determines throughput. The larger the roller, the more heat it holds and the faster linen passes through.
- Wall ironers — for small flat linen: tablecloths, napkins, towels. Suited to restaurants, cafés and small sites.
- ø200 mm — the most economical option with industrial ironing quality. For small hotels and guest houses.
- ø325 mm — throughput of 18 to 42 kg per hour, working widths of 1.4 m, 1.6 m or 2 m. The class for hotels, care homes and medium-sized sites.
- ø500 mm — the new MII-ET2 series for larger volumes.
- ø650 mm — the GIGA series, the most productive and innovative, for industrial laundries.
- Compact ironers with folding — high output in minimum space, with longitudinal or transversal folding.
What Danube ironers have in common
- Drying and ironing in a single operation — linen can go straight from a high spin washer onto the roller, skipping the dryer. That saves both time and energy.
- Nomex belts — better ironing quality and longer service life.
- Electric or gas heating with atmospheric burners.
- Motor with speed inverter — ironing speed adjusts to fabric and moisture.
- BM electronic control with three operating modes, including AUTO mode, which automatically manages the ironing speed according to the selected temperature.
- Built-in cool down system.
- Skinplate and stainless steel panels — easy to clean to RABC standard and corrosion resistant.
- Compact dimensions — saving space in the laundry room.
Care Iron — moisture control
Available as an option: the system automatically regulates ironing speed based on the moisture it detects in the linen. The operator does not have to guess how slowly to feed damper items, and the result stays consistent even when batches differ.
How to choose
Three questions decide it: how many kilos of flat linen you iron per day, how wide your largest pieces are, and how much room the laundry has. A bed sheet needs at least a 1.6 m working width; if there is no space for that, look at the compact models with folding.
Frequently asked questions
Can linen go onto the ironer straight from the washer?
Yes, if the washer is high spin. Danube states that the D-BM models allow drying and ironing directly from a high speed washer extractor in a single operation. That saves time and lets you skip the drying stage for flat linen.
Which working width should I choose?
Base it on your largest piece. Double bed linen usually needs at least 1.6 m, larger sheets 2 m. If the roller is too narrow the linen has to go through twice, and the saving disappears.
Electric or gas?
If the site has a gas supply, a gas model is usually cheaper to run, because ironing takes a lot of heat. Electric is simpler to install and needs no flue.
How many kg per hour does it really iron?
For the ø325 mm models Danube states 18 to 42 kg per hour depending on the width. The real figure depends on the fabric, the moisture and how quickly staff feed the machine.
What are Nomex belts?
Heat-resistant belts that press the linen against the roller. They give better ironing quality and last longer than standard material. They are a wear part and need replacing over time.
Is an ironer difficult to maintain?
Day to day, the surface needs cleaning and the belts need checking. Skinplate and stainless steel panels can be cleaned to RABC requirements, which matters in healthcare facilities.
Does an ironer work for shirts and uniforms?
An ironer is for flat linen — sheets, tablecloths, towels, napkins. Shirts and uniforms need presses or ironing tables, which are in the finishing equipment section.
